Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions.

  1. What are your opening hours?

When you become a member of Musée maritime du Québec, you are welcome to visit as often as you like. But wait! There’s something new this year! Your Musée maritime du Québec card automatically gives you free access to the five other accredited museums in the Chaudière-Appalaches region:

Muséo Minéro, Musée Marius Barbeau, Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière, L’espace culturel du quartier Saint-Nicolas, Musée de la mémoire vivante and La Seigneurie des Aulnaies.

Musée maritime du Québec membership fees are as follows:

  • Adult: $41
  • Student (ages 18 to 25) or child (ages 6 to 17):  $21
  • Family (two adults and children of the same family): $99

2. How should I plan my visit?
It is important that you refer to the Visitor’s Guide. But if you need help or more information, please contact us by telephone, email or Messenger. We will be pleased to help you!

3. Do visits have a time limit?
We do not impose time limits on visits. You are free to visit the exhibitions at your own pace.

4. What can I expect during a visit at the museum?
You have access to all our exhibitions.

Inside the museum, a one-way tour was set up to allow visitors to move along in a specific order, from one exhibition to the next. The tour starts next to the Chalouperie, continues to the second floor, then the third floor, and ends downstairs.

5. Can a person with reduced mobility visit the museum?
Yes. People with reduced mobility can access all the museum’s exhibitions and public spaces. Elevators and wheelchair rental remain available.

6. Is the Le Cabestan shop open?
Yes. At the shop, you can buy souvenirs, books and exclusive works of art created by artists and craftspeople from the L’Islet region and Quebec. Original products are inspired by our maritime theme exhibitions. A limit of two groups of people living at the same address will have access to the shop at the same time.

7. Can I eat on site?
The coffee shop will be open to offer snacks, beverages and coffee roasted with care by  Café Bonté Divine of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.

8. Can I borrow an audio guide?
From your smartphone, you’ll have access to archival videos and photos, sounds, audio clips and exclusive GIFs. Find the course signs on board the ship, take your phone out and approach it (very close!) with the NFC or QR code to learn more! You can also type in the URL link if you prefer.

9. Can I spend some time on the museum’s terrace and at the river park?
Yes. There, you can enjoy messagealamer, a public work of art designed by Pierre Bourgault and stroll in the waterfront park to admire the most beautiful show there is: the sunset over the Charlevoix Mountains!

10. Is the first Sunday of the month still free at the museum?
Yes, full access to the museum is free on the first Sunday of each month.
