In 2011, the Mus\u00e9e maritime du Qu\u00e9bec paid tribute to Captain Luc Harvey for his 50-year career. Harvey started sailing his cruise ship, the M\/S Jacques-Cartier<\/em>, in 1972 and made Trois-Rivi\u00e8res his home port. For over four decades, some 35,000 passengers boarded the ship to admire the beauties of the St. Lawrence River. As a true leader in his field and visionary with excellent seamanship, he made thousands of tourists from Quebec and around the world discover the main waterway of Quebec. Captain Luc Harvey was a born teacher. For several years, he welcomed aboard students from hundreds of schools across Quebec to share his knowledge and passion for sailing. He organized several fundraising cruises during his career, in order to contribute to the economic and social vitality of each region visited in Quebec. Luc Harvey retired in 2012. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Born into a family of captains and father-to-son ship owners from L\u2019Isle-aux-Grues, Luc Harvey enjoyed a long career as a ship\u2019s captain. He takes great pride in the fact that navigation is part of the Harvey family\u2019s history. His two sons Fran\u00e7ois and Michel are also captains and they have helped their father and his spouse manage the family business for years. As it turns out, a fifth generation of captains is emerging in the Harvey family.
