About Gaston Rousseau<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Captain Gaston Rousseau was born in 1919, in Berthier-sur-Mer and died January 28, 2018, ten days shy of his 99th birthday. The son of a notary, he was not born into a family line of mariners, but he showed great interest in the profession at an early age. Owing to his maritime career, Captain Rousseau received the highest civilian award in Canada, becoming a member of the Order of Canada in 1983.
