The boathouse

WOODEN BOATS CONSTRUCTION IS AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF QUEBECERS’ MARITIME CULTURE. In this building inspired by wooden boat construction workshops, you will find a rich collection of longboats, canoes, rowboats, ice canoes and a “drosseuse”, a quite unique small vessel used for geese hunting on the St-Lawrence. Ask for a guide to familiarize yourself with naval carpentry. Access : late spring, summer and fall only.

Wooden boat building workshops

Each year, during fall season, a master boat builder animates training workshops on wooden boat building. The dates and fees relating to the workshops are established each spring. Unique in Québec, these workshops are an excellent opportunity to acquire knowledge “on the road to extinction.” Call (418) 247-5001 for more information. An invitation you do not want to miss !
