Here are the current job openings at the Musée maritime du Québec. 

Do you have a passion for heritage, history or the seafaring world? We are seeking interpreter guides and visitor experience attendants for summer 2021. This is a great opportunity to spend the summer along the St. Lawrence River and develop knowledge about maritime heritage and culture.

Interpreter guides

Main Duties

  • Present cultural and educational programs (guided tours and workshops) to groups (schools, summer camp groups, etc.) and individual visitors (families, adults, etc.)
  • Represent the Museum and perform various visitor experience tasks
  • Contribute to smooth site operations

Candidate Profile 

  • Keen interest in maritime history and heritage, culture and tourism
  • Good communication skills
  • Motivation to acquire new knowledge
  • Excellent command of spoken French
  • Very good command of spoken English
  • Positive, solution-oriented attitude and keen sense of adaptability
  • Team work skills
  • Well-groomed appearance

Period of Employment de travail 

  • Mid-May: First weekend of training
  • End of May to June 23 (15 hours or more/week)
  • June 24 to end of August (about 35 hours/week)
  • End of August to October 12 (possibility): Weekends

 

Priority will be given to individuals aged 15 to 30 who meet Young Canada Works or Canada Summer Jobs requirements. Please note that being a student is no longer an eligibility requirement for Canada Summer Jobs.

Visitor Experience and Sales Assistants

Main Duties

  • Welcome and inform visitors to invite them to tour the Museum and take part in its activities
  • Advise visitors regarding ticket sales and shop products and coffee
  • Offer complementary tourist information
  • Occasionally, give guided tours and facilitate workshops

Candidate Profile

  • Customer service skills
  • Interest in sales
  • Interest in culture, heritage and tourism
  • Communication skills and keen ability to listen
  • Knowledge or ability to learn about the region
  • Positive, solution-oriented attitude and keen sense of responsibility
  • Well-groomed appearance
  • Excellent command of spoken French
  • Very good command of spoken English

Period of Employment

  • End of May to Labour Day: Full time
  • Labour Day to end of November: Weekends
